8 innings, 0 runs, 10 K's against the Reds for Oliver today to lower his ERA to 1.83!!! It looks like this is Oliver's breakout season IMO!

I'd wait for a few more quality starts -- he's done his damage against the aenemic Mets and the Reds. I wouldn't put too much stock in those performances.

I wouldn't say the Reds lineup is anemic, they were even able to beat up on a great Cubs staff.

He did something like this last year too. The guy who picked him up had a grin from ear to ear until his next start. Let's just say it's wasn't pretty at all.

But, he's a good pickup. The question is do you start him right away or give him a couple of starts to prove he won't make your era astronomical. That's a personal decision. Good Luck.

I believe his next start is at Milwaukee. They have a decent lineup I suppose, if I pick him up I'll probably start him though.

I can't afford his Era and Whip. They are going to be very high.

I don't know, I have a good feeling about him. I don't know why people are so high on guys like Matt Riley but not so much on Perez.

It's early. If he gets rocked you have plenty of time to make up for it. If he does well and continues to do well you got yourself a steal.

If your gut is telling you to do it then do it. I would (unfortunately, my gut is wrong 99% of the time this season).

Well, I just dropped Miguel Batista for him, so I don't think it'll hurt much taking a chance on him. I really feel like he may have a big year this season, he was a very good prospect, and the Pirates must have seen something they really liked in him, he was part of the Brian Giles deal.

well...I drafted him. 25th in fact.

Not starting him, he had a terrible spring. but that's 2 back to back impressive starts, today even moreso against the Reds. there's obviously a lot of talent there, but he is very young. (23) i think Buerhle may be hitting the bench soon :)

here's the line from the first 2 starts. what's interesting is this is his second time around on the Reds:
4/11/04 atCIN 5.0 1 1 0 0 6 2 6 5.400 1.600
4/17/04 atNYM 6.2 1 0 0 0 6 2 2 1.350 0.600
