Someone has to start the Day thread, it might as well be me. I have had my eye on him this year, last season he started out very strong then fell apart. Day sofar this year has been very good and today thre 8 shutout innings.
Im not rdy to pick him up just yet but another good outing and I might have no choice.
I wouldn't really read into it that much. The Phillies are having serious problems hitting the ball right now. Thome was out for a day off, to boot. That'll change when they get some consistency in the lineup, though, but Day:
a. won't get much run support
b. plays too many games in San Juan
c. has never been anything more than a spot start pitcher from a fantasy standpoint

never been much more then a spot starter?
Dude the kid is young and is still basically a prospect.

I agree. He's 25. So far this season, his BAA is .157 and thats not including the shutout he pitched today against Philly. I know he's only played the Mets twice, Florida, and the Phils, but his stats are pretty nice so far. Plus, Montreal is a pitchers' park.
I'm not saying he's a fantasy monster than will challenge for the Cy Young. I'm saying he doesn't deserve to be written off without second thought.

I like Day's chances this year...I picked him up a week ago, for one main reason. He plays in the NL east. The only tough division matchup he has is when he plays in the hitter friendly Phillies stadium. Other times, he'll be playing against the Marlins (weak offense, pitcher's stadium), the Mets (weak offense, pitcher's stadium) and the Braves (average offense, average stadium). I think he, and most other NL East pitchers are in for good years. I also picked up Horacio Ramirez using this same logic.

derek lowe is far from consistent. In fact, he's probably one of the most inconsistent pitchers in the majors so I'm not sure where you are going with that.
