Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Kevin Appier was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with elbow soreness.
Appier started Friday's series opener against the Minnesota Twins, but had to leave in the second inning after facing just four batters due to discomfort in his surgically-repaired right elbow.
The 36-year-old Appier is 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA in two starts this season.
Meanwhile, another Kansas City starter, Darrell May, left Saturday's game in the fifth inning with a strained left adductor muscle. May is listed as day- to-day.
