You do have to give it to Pudge...just his experince with working with staff, being defensive stud behind the plate has done wonders.

Heck I even just picked up Brandon Inge to play as my 2nd C, the move to CF has helped this man learn to hit somehow. Might as well ride him while he is hot....9 game hitting streak.

Pudge has been a great force for us so far, but I have to give credit to a number of roster moves for us this yr and the fact that are youngsters are developing nicely.

This team is 2nd in the majors in runs scored (112 to 113 - HOU) and thats without Dmitri Young who really only played one game. Thats just impressive.

Guillen has been huge
R. White has been healthy (knock on wood)
Vina has been solid
Obviously Pudge is a force.
Pena has started to break out
Munson has started to break out
Higgy is relatively healthy and doesnt have the weight of this team on his shoulders the way he did the last few yrs.
Monroe has been a nice bonus
Inge is playing like a man trying to prove a point - which is real nice.
Sanchez, IMO, still plays with a lot of immaturity - something that I hope gets addressed soon. For example - the AB after he hit his HR he tries to bunt with the bases empty. To me thats just a sign of a guy desperately trying to draw attention to himself by saying "look - I can do everything". Just get on base Alex, the guys behind you will do the rest - and stop striking out (ive already seen a few 3 pitch strikeouts to Sanchez this yr).

To me, the most imoressive thing about the Tigers is their 1-9 hitters are pretty strong top to bottom. That was evident in the first series of the yr in TOR. Our 7-9 hitters are simply tough. When you are running out any combination of Munson, Guillen, Monroe, Higgy, and occasionally Pena into the bottom of the lineup - thats formidable.

To me that's just him trying to get on base with no one on because that's on skill (bunting) he's very good at.
