Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - New York Mets third baseman Ty Wigginton was diagnosed with an ulcer and could be released from NYU Medical Center on Saturday.
Wigginton fainted at his home prior to Wednesday night's game versus Montreal and complained about being dizzy while at Shea Stadium. The 26-year-old was then admitted to the hospital following the contest.
He was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday and is not eligible to return to the lineup until May 6.
For the season, Wigginton is batting .188 with a pair of homers and nine runs batted in.
To fill Wigginton's roster spot, the Mets recalled infielder Danny Garcia from Norfolk of the International League.
