I predict it here and now, on this Bboard, that Adam Dunn, said outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds, is going to blow up the league this year. I'm talking MVP. I'm talking Barry Bonds' home run record. Im talking illegal steriods. I'm talking Ken Griffey Jr. loafing it on fly balls and grounders to the infield. I'm talking Kaz Ishii for rookie of the year. Premiere Japanese baseball player in the pitcher friendly confines of Dodger Stadium? C'mon. Sleeper? Well, he's about to wake up the baseball world. Ishii! Ishii! Ishii! Sushi, I mean, Ishii!

Hi Chicago, welcome aboard! I'm pretty high on Dunn, too (although I don't think he'll challenge for the mvp award just yet). He certainly has amazing power.

Ishii certainly could win the rookie of the year - all the signs we've seen so far are pretty good. I think it'll be either Ishii or Burroughs, unless somebody pulls a Pujols again.

Dunn is available in my league, would it be worth getting him? Would he be better than Matt Lawton?

Lawton is overachieving now, but he's a solid player, especially now that he plays in Cleveland. Dunn has been a disaster so far, but his potential is much higher, and slumps and surges don't mean much yet. I'd take a chance and grab Dunn, especially if you just traded power for speed and pitching. Just hope that he doesn't fall under the sophomore jinx too badly...

Are you sure there isn't a chance Lawton could have a career year? He has 3 homers already and he actually gets some steals, although I guess I will have Koskie and Ichiro for that. I just can't bring myself to do it until Dunn shows something, I mean he is 2 for 20!

What should I do

Postby Treb » Wed Apr 10, 2002 9:56 pm

I've got potential outfielders in:

Sosa
Pierre
Alou
Dunn
Hunter

Who should I be going with? Right now I've got Sosa, Pierre, Dunn ... but when Alou gets back, what should I do?

I would bench Dunn in favor of Alou. For some reason I'm not completely sold on him. Plus, with Griffey MIA that cant be good for him either.

I agree with uanap: Alou over Dunn unless Alou doesn't seem fully recovered.

Dunn was 2 for 4 today, so maybe it's looking up a little. But still, I just got Brian Giles so I am happy for now.

Just wondering, as Dunn is available, I could trade preston wilson for someone and then get dunn. So I get maybe Lo Duca (would have to be lucky) or someone and then get Dunn as well. That's a 2 for 1 almost. The question is thoigh, how much better is preston wilson? I know he gets steals and I need them, but Dunn could get so many RBI's.
