What don't you understand, quick? If a guy gets you zero stats in a specifice scoring cat then he is useless. He was drafted for HOLDS and has come up empty while other good RPs are getting them.
I can't wait around while I fall in this stat. I gotta move.
I think he doesn't understand why you would panic and make a decision based on 2-3 weeks worth of information.
So far Lidge hasn't even had a hold opportunity. The typical holder gets between 30-40 opportunities a year. At this stage, Lidge should have 3-4 hold opportunities, but the Astros have had a lot of blowouts and have been behind in the close games.
It'll even out over the course of the year. He's pitching well with 12.5 Ks per 9 innings, a 0.69 WHIP and a 1.02 ERA.
Good advice---wait 6-8 weeks before you make a move. Do you see the Yanks trying to waive A-Rod? Good teams recognize that it takes time to see where your team is really strong and where it is really weak.

gtwMA, I know exactly what you mean. But...HOLDS are strange animals. I looked at Lidge's opportunities and he has like 8 appearances and no HOLDS. I would rather grab the guy with 3 HOLDS five appearances and ride him while Lidge's Astros start playing close games.
I am only carrying two middle men and thus it is imperative that they both produce. I am 2nd to last in HOLDS waiting for Lidge to collect.
My Friendliness bar...recently shrunk from 11.3 to 10mm long!!

I'm second to last in 4 offensive categories because about 6 of my guys are batting under .230. It's way too early to panic.
Last year Dotel made 76 appearances and had 39 opportunities. I can guarantee you every good holder had a string of 8-12 appearances last year where they had no holds. It happens. In September Lidge will have 70+ appearances, 30+ opportunities, and 25+ holds.
