Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds have claimed utilityman Jason Romano off waivers from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Romano was designated for assignment by the Devil Rays on Tuesday. He was 1- for-8 with an RBI in four games for Tampa Bay.
The Devil Rays acquired the 24-year-old Romano from the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 3 in exchange for shortstop Antonio Perez.
The Reds opened a roster spot for Romano by optioning infielder Ray Olmedo to Triple-A Louisville. He had just one at-bat in eight games with Cincinnati this season.
