Mets place Wigginton on 15-day DL

Postby WebHamster » Thu Apr 22, 2004 7:00 pm

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Mets placed Ty Wigginton on the 15-day disabled list Thursday after the third baseman was hospitalized with bouts of dizziness.

Wigginton fainted in his home prior to Wednesday night's game versus Montreal and complained about being dizzy while at Shea Stadium. The 26-year-old was placed in the NYU Medical Center following the game.

For the season, Wigginton is batting .188 with a pair of homers and nine runs batted in.

To fill Wigginton's roster spot, the Mets called up infielder Danny Garcia from Norfolk of the International League.

The 24-year-old Garcia was hitting .222 (8-for-36) with four runs scored, two doubles and one RBI through 10 games with the Tides this season.
