What's up with Tim Redding?

Postby Jean » Thu Apr 22, 2004 11:16 am

He was fairly decent last year and most people had high hopes for him coming into this season. He's gotten hit hard the last few times out. Granted that his last start was against STL at home, but he's the Brewers hit him fairly hard too. Is he going to rebound? I'm tempted to start him next week since it looks like he'll have a double start...but after last night I'm having second thoughts. Any opinions?

I've already dropped him, but only because I can't imagine anybody else picking him up with those stats, even if he starts improving. I was high on him entering this year but he's having trouble with his placement and command. The stuff is there. He was the most consistent Astros starter last year, but he's looked very up and down this year (mostly down, unfortunately). I would sit him until it looks like he is coming around and regains some of the consistency from last year.

I was high on him too but dropped him last week. The Houston Chronicle reported Redding's spot in the rotation could be in jeopardy following his poor start Wednesday.

I'm still high on Redding. His velocity is still there so I don't think he's injured or anything. He's just had some bad starts with the last one going up against the toughest offense he'll ever see all year.

I'm starting him next time out against the weak hitting Pirates.
