Anyone taking' a chance on him? He put up some pretty good numbers for a rookie last year 3-2 in 5 starts with 29K's (35.1 IP) and a 3.31 ERA and a 1.245 WHIP. Tempting.

Piniella is fed up with a few of the pitchers already, Hendrickson and Gonzalez, so he bumped both from the rotation. Waechter was originally planned to be in the starting rotation but due to schedule they didn't need him, then he got a small blister and really hasn't pitched well since. Piniella is giving the youngster a chance to prove himself since the two i mentioned haven't been able to. Let's just say he is desperate for pitching.

He's being called up because they have nothing to lose, basically. Hendrickson and Gonzalez have pitched themselves out of the rotation, so they will try someone else. No Tampa Bay SP should be in your rotation.

Tell it like it is sir!!!
Think unbalanced schedules, faceing off against 4 of the top 10 offenses in the AL.............

Tampa Bay is putting together a pretty decent offense as well.
Not to hijack the thread but Schilling has a pair of factory issued Teflons....... A few starts at Coors just isnt as intimidateing as faceing off against those divisional teams.
