Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - New York Yankees righthander Jorge DePaula is scheduled to undergo elbow replacement surgery on Thursday and will miss the rest of the season.
Noted sports surgeon Dr. James Andrews and Yankees' team physician Dr. Stuart Hershon both concurred that DePaula will need Tommy John surgery. Andrews is expected to perform the procedure.
The 24-year-old DePaula pitched in three games this season, starting one and went 0-1 with a 5.00 earned run average. He made four appearances last season with one start and had a 0.79 ERA.
DePaula will need about 10 months to recover.
