I'm thinking of picking him up but still dont know much about him. all i know is hes tearing it up. is he > or < riley? I read the "should-i-start-acevdo-vs.-the braves thread" seems like many of you guys have him already. any insight would be much appreciated thanks!

Consider this a bump, then.
Hmm, i hadnt heard this...I assume youre talking Juan Marichel (someone explain to me why one of the biggest Dodger killer ended up finishing his career in LA?).
How reliable is the information? I read it in the Atlanta Journal & Constitution today - in brief mention. But then again, the AJC isn't a paragon of journalistic integrity.
as a reds fan, i hear all the time about how marichal is in his cousin's ear all the time. last night, mention was made of the most recent bit of advice from marichal, "do whatever gully [pitching coach, don gullett] says."
Ok rhymes here is your official scouting report from th guy who scouts all (me) about Jose Acevedo:
A lot of times you will find that there are pitchers who need to lop off one walk per nine innings to become major leaguers. Acevedo has done just that over the past two seasons, for which the Reds organization credits his learning to control his emotions on the mound. He should have been in the Reds opening day rotation last year and you'd be more familiar with him if, when he finally did get the call he hadn't slipped in the Dodger dugout and suffered an ankle injury that eventually required surgery.
Final Analysis: Acevedo is someone to watch in 2004
Hope that helps, it should give owners a bit of a proverbial "chubby".
Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

Only two years younger and better than Garcia, Speaking of Garcia, everyone who has him might consider trading him if he has some value, because my numbers foresee trouble for him this year.
