OK this one is a hard one (I think). Who is the only player to lead the major leagues in batting average yet not win the batting title in either league. I just dug this one up out of a general trivia book that I just got and there is no trick having to do with not enough at bats or anything like that.
I remember this one. The guy was a midseason trade, right? He led the league in batting either before or after his trade. If this is the case, it's on the tip of my tongue.
Jody, Jody Davis. Hits 'em high and far. Jody, Jody Davis. He's a superstar. Holy Cow!!!! http://www.stinkytee.com
I remember this one, just can't think of it. They brought it up a lot when Will Clark came over to St. Louis and was hitting over .400 for a while. I just can't remember who it was.

Hmm... I think it was actually the other way around. I might be wrong but didn't Eddie Murray lead the majors in average in the year Willie McGee won the NL title before being traded? Or am I getting things mixed up?
