Postby WebHamster » Wed Apr 21, 2004 12:00 am

Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Arizona second baseman Roberto Alomar broke a bone in his right hand during Tuesday's 4-2 loss to Milwaukee and was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Alomar, who joined the Diamondbacks as a free agent this past offseason, was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning by Milwaukee starter Ben Sheets. He was replaced by pinch-runner Matt Kata.

An x-ray revealed the fracture between the pinky finger and the wrist. Alomar, whose hand was placed in a splint, is expected to miss six to eight weeks.

The 12-time All-Star was hitting .206 this season for Arizona.

Infielder Chad Tray was recalled from Triple-A Tucson to take Alomar's roster spot. He will join the team for Wednesday's game.
