Draft advice: What should I do?

Hi, all. I have the privilege of the second overall pick in my upcoming snake draft (head to head points-based league) out of fourteen teams. Assuming A-Rod goes first, my initial thought was to take Randy Johnson as my pick. However, I am now questioning myself because of the tremendous position flexibility of Albert Pujols in my league (OF/3B/1B), who I consider to be an elite power hitter in the league.

My gut feel is still to take Randy Johnson first, but I wanted to get some other opinions from the "gurus" out there in fantasy baseball land. Does anyone believe that the position flexibility of Pujols makes him a more attractive option than Randy, or am I insane? Thanks.

Randy would be too valuable for me to pass up in either a points or roto league.

Pujols is a stud, but he isn't worth the #2 pick.

I would take Vlad or RJ with the second pick. Yes, Pujols is a stud, but he doesn't get you 20 wins and 300k's nor 40 hr's 40 sb.

Well, if your choice is really limited to Unit or Pujols, then it's clearly Unit.

The real question should be whether it's Unit or Vladdy. Pujols positional flexibility is nice, and he is clearly a top 10 guy, but he's not a top five guy. He is the best at 3B, but there are other guys whose numbers should be in the same ballpark (Chavez/Glaus/ Rolen). He's not the best OF (Vladdy) or 1B (Giambi or Helton), so in some ways he isn't "worth" the pick if you take him that high and put him anywhere other than 3B.

Vladdy, meanwhile, will give you alot more steals and a higher average, and probably about the same number of runs and HR, with somewhat fewer RBIs. So really it's Vladdy or Unit, depending on your preference for hitting or pitching.

Thanks, all. As it turned out, the decision didn't matter -- the guy with the first pick chose Bonds, and so I just snatched up A-Rod instead.
