Not really worth keeping around oither than a fill in.

I'd probably start Huff over Hillenbrandt at Util.

Forget Texeira. If your looking for impact rookies get either Travis Hafner or Brandon Phillips. Both will start on opening day. Hafner is being groomed as the NOW successor of Jim Thome. Brandon Phillips is why the Indians traded Bartolo Colon. He's also ready NOW!

I'm assuming this is a re-draft league?

I got to ask why you think Phillips is ready, but the #1 prospect, best college hitter of this generation, isnt? I dont think either will do alot this year. If its a keeper league, of course nab Tex.

I agree with guy who told you to start Huff over Hillenbrand. With Tex, I'd probably hold the guy for now and see how he progresses during the spring.

The reason I think Phillips is ready is because EVERY analyst thinks hes ready. Middle infielders that can get you 10-15 homers and 20-25 steals are hard to come by. Teixera is battling with 3 other players for a spot. He wont be able to find a groove if hes thrown around between 3 positions, thats if he even starts the season with the Rangers. Phillips wasnt even supposed to win the job and came in and beat outthe original "starter" even though Macdonald is batting .460 this spring. Thats impressive.

cwhitty, I have Phillips on my team as well, but he's riding the pine. I wouldn't bet on him being a huge impact player this year. The Indians want him to start because he's their future. They feel he's ready to start benefiting from MLB experience, which does not mean that they feel he will be a start right off the bat.

Remember Soriano's first season? He showed a lot of promise, but there were still a decent number of second baseman posting better numbers. By the end of the season, everyone was pretty convinced Soriano would be a star, but that still didn't translate to being a fantasy stud at second.

Like I said, I have some optimism about Phillips. Enough to put him on my bench. At the same time, though, I'll drop the guy at the first sign of trouble. No reason to give a rookie the benefit of the doubt in fantasy.

He has much greater plate discipline than Soriano even has now. No way am i saying hes better. He will reach base quite a few more times when you equate K/BB ratio. Not putting money on him im just saying that its worth a shot to have him as you backup considering steals and enthusiastic youth. Remember when you could run that fast?

drop teixahara. he will have an alright season but he will be learning alot and isnt ready yet. Also you gotta stick with hillenbrand on util for at least the first half of the season. He has the 4th best spring training batting avg in 38 or greater plate appearences. He is a good hitter, he just gets tired
