Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago White Sox Tuesday placed shortstop Jose Valentin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 19, with a pulled left hamstring.
The White Sox purchased the contract of Kelly Dransfeldt from Class AAA Charlotte to fill Valentin's roster spot.
The 34-year-old Valentin aggravated the injury running the bases in Sunday's 5-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. In 10 games this season, Valentin is batting .271 (13-for-48) with four doubles, three home runs and eight RBI.
Dransfeldt was hitting .265 (9-for-34) with one homer and four RBI in 12 games for Charlotte. The 29-year-old, who was a non-roster invitee to spring training, played in 36 games with Texas between 1999-2001. Dransfeldt batted .159 (13-for-82) with one homer and seven RBI in that span.
