Going insane - Juan Pierre advice please!

One thing of note: check out the top 5 SB leaders over the last 5 yrs - rarely does a players name appear more than once or twice. Coincidence? I dont think so - speed players tend to get injured more often IMO.

Pierre was number 1 last year with 65 sb's
He was number 2 in '02 with 47 sb's
He tied for number 3 in '01 with 46 sb's
He had 7 sb's in 51 games in '00

Nice job catching me on that - but I still think that he is more of the exception to what I was saying. You did notice the lack of repeat names, right? How many of the guys that finished #1 even made the list the following yrs?

Should I drop him? I took him early so I would be good for steals through the whole season - but now hes not doing anything at all - I know its only week 3, but should I drop him?

Learn it from us or learn it the hard way: don't drop good players 11 games into the season. Not only is it dumb from your team's perspective, but it's also a good way to hand any half-wit with a #1 waiver priority your league's fantasy title.
Besides he had 2 sb's in his last game, so he can turn things around quick.

i actually grabbed pierre with number 9 waiver priority in one league. i know its a terrible league. it was just an autodraft league that i was doing some experimenting in.

but back to the point:

a)dont drop good players this early. occasionally people will actually end up sucking for the entire season (like burrell and konerko last year) but give the player some time before you drop them.

b)always try to trade a good player like pierre before dropping him. just because you lost confidence in him doesnt mean everyone else has. he should still have decent trade value.

There are many multiple names over the years. I think Pierre will get at least 40-50 this year.

So in the last 3 yrs the stolen base leader couldnt even crack the top 5 the yr after. Maybe Pierre will buck that trend this yr.
