Anyone know why people were riding this guy's jock a month ago? He hit 17 homers last year and batted .287, and that was his best year. He's also fat and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he frequently uses illegal drugs. He isn't good, so why the love?

He has catcher eligibility and 17 HRs w/ 80 something RBIs and a .287 average is pretty darn good for a thin position.

Did you happen to see how many at-bats it took him to hit 17 HRs? Give the guy a 500 at-bat season and he could easily pop 25-30 HRs. Also, even though he's injured right now, he plays every day at DH. How many catchers do you know that are going to get 130+ games in this year?

Anyone know what the latest injury report on him is? Will he be back before or after Joe Mauer?

Still has a while, but before Mauer. If you're deciding between LeCroy and Mauer, go LeCroy, without a doubt. Mauer's upside is terrible - .300 average at best with essentially nothing at the other four categories. And he's 20 years old, so the .300 average is doubtful. The last time a 20 year old catcher hit .300 was Benito Santiago in like '87. Few 20 year olds, period, hit .300. And thats his ONLY upside this season. That said, LeCroy isn't particularly valuable either, and you'd probably do better with other waiver-wire catcher options.
