That's not bad at all compared to the crap I've been offered sometimes...

Anybody want to trade Tejada for Teixeira?

Anyway, if the closer was better (Cordero, Rhodes), that probably would've made it closer, but not enough to go through.

However,

Wells>Huff, even with the 3B eligibility, though it closes the gap by a bit
A-Rod>Manny

Kolb doesn't make up for the gaps...

I don't think that's a bad trade at all. He's just bitter that the #1 overall draft choice is killing his team right now. Assuming all the players in the trade perform at last year's level:

Huff > Wells. Wells had a few more rbi, but significantly tailed off in the 2nd half, and Huff can play 3B.

ARod > Manny. Mostly because of position elligibility/durability. They should put up similar stats.

Kolb. Had 20 saves in the 2nd half last year, and the Brew crew led the league in save opps. So far, he's picked up where he left off.

I wouldn't make the trade (mostly because ARod can play SS), but it's certainly a good starting point, and not worthy of getting ripped on IMO.

Huff and Manny combined: .318 AVG, 74 HR, 211 RBI
A-Rod: .298 AVG, 47 HR, 118 RBI

Use some logic, people.

The trade is not that unfair.

And just because Kolb is on a bad team, that does NOT mean he will get much fewer save opportunities than, say, Mariano Rivera. It's much closer than you might think.

it's just a bit to early in the season to talk about trading top 10 players.
