Geez, I didn't think the offer was that bad. H2H standard points league. I offered Manny Ramirez, Aubrey Huff (who qualifies at third in our league) and Kolb for Arod and Vernon Wells.

A little low, but could have been worse.

Thought it was a decent starting point. Did it warrant a personal email saying it was garbage?

MAYBE low.

But if he balls you out, just explain to him in private that you meant it as a start.

if he persists, tell everyone that he is a fool, then smash him. hardly worht making fun of people though.

If Huff were hitting, then then is an even trade in my opinion. Maybe that's where inlies the problem...

True but Arod's not hitting either. Huff actually has more points in our league.

Break it down

If you take out Manny and Vernon Wells, the trade turns into Huff/Kolb for AROD.

Kolb is basically useless. I mean really be realistic unless he is absolutely starving for a closer.

So Huff for AROD?

Even if you consider Manny an upgrade over Wells it is kinda a stretch. Especially since AROD will qual at 3B.

I wouldn't bawl you out though, just chide you.

It probaly depends on your scoring (there's no standard points league, unfortunately). If closers have close to the value they do in roto and the league is relatively deep, it doesn't sound like a bad starting point. On the other hand, if closers are close to valueless, like they are in some points formats, you might have lowballed a bit much. :-)

Closers are worth quite a bit. Gagne was the top scoring pitcher last year. Wins are 8 points and saves are 6 points. Innings and strikeouts are a point a piece. You can get big points for a low WHIP and ERA. I talked to him a bit and his anger stemmed from his belief that Vernon Wells was more valuable than either Manny or Ordonez, even though this league is geared toward homeruns and batting average. In his mind he was downgrading in the outfield and at third base.

Huff and Manny for Arod MIGHT be fair.
