Best Fantasy Catcher?

Postby Ry-Guy » Mon Apr 19, 2004 7:48 pm

Who will be the best fantasy catcher in 2004?

I still think Piazza is head and shoulders above the rest but Javy Lopez is making me a believer, Jorge Posada is extremely solid, Pudge Rodriguez is making a strong case, and if Craig Wilson stays in the line-up, he could make his case for top catcher honors even though he hardly ever catches a game.

Seeing all these quality bats at catcher, must make the LoDuca, Kendall, and Pierzynski owners a bit jealous.

Also, Victor Martinez - ready to break out?

I think Wilson has a strong case although he hasn't played there and it's still very early

I actually think Piazza is the best fantasy pitcher to have, even though Posada is great. c wilson will also increase in value by far, I say next to Varitek.

Kendall is still very strong....always a .310+ hitter with a few SBs thrown in to boot.

Yeah, I'd put his arm at about the Jamie Moyer junkball class. ;-)

Piazza, when healthy, is the best. Especially now, since he's speinding his off-days at first base, instead of on the bench like most other catchers.

In fantasy its gotta be Piazza. In real life where throwing out baserunners count its Posada. :-)

Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

I'm gonna go with Charles Johnson just because he's been a nice asset to my team so far as a number 2 catcher.

IMO it's Posada. If Javy can keep this up much longer then he'll leapfrog Posada.
