Heard the Huff news?

Postby Trazcon » Mon Apr 19, 2004 7:34 pm

Apr 19 Tampa Bay manager Lou Pinella, in an effort to spark the offense, will play Aubrey Huff at third base this week, the St. Petersburg Times reported. If Huff handles third, a position he played in the minors and college but struggled with early in his career with the Devil Rays, it will open a spot at designated hitter for Robert Fick or another productive hitter. Huff played right field last year but was bumped to designated hitter with the arrival of Jose Cruz, Jr. "I've played it before, so it's not like I'm just taking one for the team," Huff said. "I'm pretty comfortable there right now, actually."

Now THAT would really help, he already has 3 games there. By the end of the week he'll have 8-10 appearances. Now he just has to start swinging.

If Fick keeps the full-time DH job, he could be a good bench player in deep leagues, methinks.

Lets get 15 games there and I will be happy.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

I figured this would happen. The Devilrays other 3b options are awful. The guy can flat out hit. He'll get it going soon.

I have him on my bench for now. Have Cabrera at third and Chavez as my utility. This would sure help my options once he qualifies and starts hitting.

No problem RynMan, I actually just claimed Tex off waivers and I have konerko at 1B too. 3B and 1B are looking very solid I think I may run away from my comp this year. Hope Tex comes back golfing balls in the bandbox.

I SO need Huff eligible at third. I have D. Young and (yeesh) Mark DeRosa. Of course, Huff won't help me much if he doesn't start hitting.
