He should be fine next time. He went 11 days between pitching, if he could have gotten past the 2nd inning relatively unscathed he probably would have been ok. Just some rust.

My homer answer is that you should avoid starting someone against NY. But honestly, he had one really bad inning where the Yanks did all their damage. So, if you're unsure, I would check to see if our hitters are still slumping next week and also check who he's matched up against. Contreras looks terrible right now, Mussina isn't quite right, and we just called up some scrub to fill the #5 spot.

he actually had some decent pitches today....the Yankee hitters just took some good swings on them. His control was off a little though, so maybe the layoff had something to do with that.

Lowe is in general a pitcher that is a solid fantasy pitcher but only when you play matchups with him. Last year, he had a 3.21 ERA at home and 6.21 ERA on the road. However, most of the bad road starts were because he is absolutely awful on Astroturf, with a 9.70 ERA last year. I would bench him at SkyDome, and MetroDome every start. He had a 5.11 ERA at Yankee Stad. last year, and the Yanks have an improved lineup this year, so I would probably not start him if you have any other options that don't look as scary.

He's a sinkerball pitcher so whenever someone makes contact they hit ground balls. On astroturf the ball moves faster meaning more balls get through the infield. Simple

Because Lowe is a sinkerball pitcher and an extreme groundball pitcher. On Astroturf, balls roll faster than on grass and have funnier bounces which means routine groundballs turn into hits.
