Closers are killing me!

There isnt a whole lot on the wire
Im thinking about Benson or Pavano

you may have mistyped something here because drop is the wrong word. With all those closers the right word is trade. You can get a much better quality starter from someone freaking out about not having saves than if you did a pickup/drop from the waivers.

there is always at least one guy who needs closers in a league....looks at his starting pitching and offer him a trade. In most cases you can get the better end of the deal when you offer closers.

Heres the deal, you get my 5 points for a save, 1 pt per out, 1 pt per k, -1 per hit, -1 per run, -1 per walk, -5 for a blown save and -5 for a loss. so the average save nets about 8 pts. Mantei bent me over for -18 today, and I figured out with his 2 saves and todays blowup he has pitched 4 innings and netted 0 points. I have a maximun on innings count and Im really wondering if they are worth it. Based on my closers recent performances, nobody will trade for players getting -18 pts. That being said any more suggeations?

yeah, I agree with the above poster of trading the closers rather than dropping them. You can start an arms race by trading away a closer to the team in your league with the least saves. Then the other teams will come knocking on your door to catch up.

Kinda like the same strategy that some countries are using around the world these days in the arms trade business
