A slugger of AROD's caliber had this bad a start and rebounded?

Not including bonafied slow starters (guys who start off slow every year - thome, tejada).

Well, there aren't many players of A-Rod's caliber to begin with but Giambi got off to a similar bad start 2 years ago and still had a pretty good year. I really don't know why people are worried about him. He didn't put up all those numbers in the past by some stroke of luck. I'm sure it's frustrating for people that drafted him #1 but barring death, he will turn it around.

I'm not saying he won't turn it around, but the only thing in life that is guarenteed, is death. I remmeber having this talk with a couple freinds of mine a few years ago about griffey...and he at the time was the best player in the game...So until he does turn it around...im sick of hearing people say he will...

prediction: arods numbers will be respectable but his numbers fantasy-wise will not warrant a number 1 or 2 pick. However, being put in that 4 spot in the yankees lineup will certainly not yield anything near a "down" year for arod, just not 50-140

Well, the longer his slump goes, the more likely his overall numbers are down a little from a typical year for him. But when people talk about trading him, the question I'd have is, can you get someone in return who will have better numbers from tomorrow until the end of the season? Now that gets me thinking.....he's only 3 games away from 3B eligibility. I wonder if I can get the A-Rod owner in my league to bite for Scott Rolen.

That's just because you're a bitter Sox fan. There is 8 years of evidence to suggest he will come around and absolutely 0 suggesting that he won't.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Looking at the split stats, he doesn't appear to have been THAT bad in April in the past...

A-Rod

Postby recmccl » Sun Apr 18, 2004 9:50 pm

Chill on A-Rod people. They just talked about A-Rod during the Tex/Sea game today how he started 8-41 last year and won the MVP. He's 7-41 right now. He'll get going soon, no worries. Him and Giles. ;-D

No doubt. In a month we'll all be laughing about these threads and those of us who drafted him in the first round will be smiling from ear to ear. :-)
