Everyone here saya his upside...his upside. They guy can get a lot of K's but his ERA's and WHIP are horrible. He was bad last year, and bad this year...how long does one have to wait for his upside before you through in the towel.....he is just taking up a bench spot on my roster.

You may be right that he will suck this year, but he certainly did not suck last year. 72K in 71 IP, 3.30 ERA - 1.15 WHIP, .202 BA against is not the mark of a sucky pitcher. Give him time, he will be fine.

I can't tell whether I'm happy or upset that I sat him today. ERA was ok, WHIP was terrible, but he probably will get the win, and I need wins badly

2003 ERA WHIP
March 10.80 2.40
April 10.80 3.90
May 3.38 0.75
June 2.57 1.14
August 6.30 1.30
September 1.51 0.95
His ERA against the Red Sox last year.....24.92..WHIP.....3.23
Guess that is why i thought he was worse then he was....he always got lit when i saw him play.
Still though........Is it worth hiding him on your bench for 2-3 months??? Specially when there are pitchers available who are pitching much better?

Is Quantrill going to get credit for the W if the Yanks win ?

I can see how as a Red Sox fan you might have missed his good outings last year
Very much worth holding onto this year. While not proven on a full season as a starter, he is a superb power pitcher on a team with a top offense. He could win 15-16 with a whip and era similar to last year, which obviously would be a great season. Don't know who's available in your league but believe me, he'll be worth a bench spot and then some.
