Dave Miley is in his 25th season in the Reds' organization as a player, coach or field manager...is in his first full season as the club's Major League manager...on 7/ 28/03 replaced Bob Boone as interim field manager and on 12/4/03 signed a 1-year contract through the 2004 season, with a club option for 2005...in 2003 the Reds went 46-58 under Boone, 1-0 under Ray Knight and 22-35 under Miley...is the 57th skipper in Reds history, the 47th since 1900 and the 23rd to assume the role without prior Major League managerial experience...spent 14 of the previous 24 seasons as a field manager at the minor league or Major League levels...his career record as a minor league manager is 1,115-841 (.570), including 296- 245 (.547) during 4 seasons at Class AAA Louisville...holds Louisville franchise records for victories (296) and games managed (541)...Louisville's 5-0 victory at Ottawa on 5/19/02 was his 1,000th career minor league victory...in 2001 guided Louisville to its first International League championship while establishing franchise single-season records for victories (84) and winning percentage (.583)...spent most of the last 17 seasons as a coach, instructor or manager in the club's minor league system...was the bench coach on the Major League staff in 1993 under rookie manager Tony Perez...in 1994 was the organization's assistant minor league field coordinator.

Playing career: In 1980 signed with the Reds as a catcher and played 7 minor league seasons before he became a coach in 1987...in 403 minor league apps hit .238 with 16 hr, 172 rbi and 13 sb.
Personal: Attended Chamberlain High School in Tampa, FL, where he played football and baseball...was a second team all-conference defensive end.
