How'd I do on my first Live Draft?

Postby kswiss » Mon Mar 17, 2003 6:02 pm

It's a 12 team 5x5 Yahoo Roto league. I had the 6th pick.
Here's the team and the round they drafted in.

C Kendall, Jason (C-Pit) - 13
1B Dunn, Adam (LF, 1B, RF-Cin) - 10
2B Durham, Ray (2B, DH-SF) - 6
3B Boone, Aaron (3B, SS-Cin) - 7
SS Tejada, Miguel (SS-Oak) - 2
OF Bonds, Barry (LF-SF) - 1
OF Burrell, Pat (LF-Phi) - 5
OF Stewart, Shannon (LF, DH-Tor) - 15
Util Olerud, John (1B-Sea) - 12
Bench Alfonzo, Edgardo (3B-SF) - 16
Bench Giambi, Jeremy (LF, 1B, RF-Bos) -18
Bench Bellhorn, Mark (2B, 3B, 1B-ChC) - 20

SP Oswalt, Roy (SP-Hou) - 3
SP Hudson, Tim (SP-Oak) - 4
RP Foulke, Keith (RP-Oak) - 8
RP Rodriguez, Francisco (RP-Ana) -17
P Burnett, A.J. (SP-Fla) - 9
P Beckett, Josh (SP-Fla) - 14
P Hampton, Mike (SP-Atl) -19
Bench Pineiro, Joel (SP, RP-Sea) - 11
Bench Looper, Braden (RP-Fla) - 21

The only things I wish I did was choose Preston Wilson instead of Dunn, and a better closer like Jumenez, Julio, or williamson instread of Pineiro.

Any thoughts for post-draft improvements?
THanks for your help!

All around your infield is solid, u would like to see a bit more power from the first base position, but u never know how dunn will do he may break out for a full season.

i like ur picthing a lot, oswalt, burnett and beckett should all have big K years, but maybe not as many wins or as low and e.r.a and whip as some other pitchers. I would drop F rodriguez cause percival will be closing anyways, unless u get points for holds or something.

Maybe trade one of ur young pitchers as i think pineiro will have a solid season, if u can get the right deal for a top closer go for it.

Good luck

I wouldn't think about trading Pineiro or feel bad about picking him in your draft. He is a solid young pitcher who should have a good season in Seattle this year. I would even start him if I were you, especially since Seattle should get off to a hot start this year, giving him lots of win opportunities

Your team is solid, especially your pitching. I agree you should look for a trade for a closer, maybe trade a SP and possibly Boone or Alfonso to someone that needs help at 3B, to get one. And I also Agree that you should start Pineiro, i would bench Hampton.

You have a very good team all around. I am also suprised to see Oswalt last until the 3rd round. The only thing you can use is another closer because Rodrigez isnt going to get many saves this year.
