Which of the two would you go after?

Think bigger, my friend. Schmidt is upper tier SP with great era and whip. Sure, he just came off the dl, but geez, you can get more than that.

Renteria would be a nice choice but it also depends on what specific categories you need. If you need power you should look for someone else besides Renteria

For Schmidt you should probably be able to get almost any batter you want, 'cept for maybe some of the elites like Soriano, Pujols, those guys. Give him some more starts if your league isn't sold on him.
