Riley puttin' on a clinic

Postby TheRock » Fri Apr 16, 2004 8:43 pm

Don't want to jinx him, but Matt Riley's got it going on. Through 5 he's struck out 7, walked 1, and a solo homer has been the only hit the Jays have managed. I'm sold on him for now. Endurance I'm sure will be an issue this year, but I picked him up and plan on riding him for a few starts anyway. ;-D

I'm wondering if I should drop one of these three players for Matt Riley:
Miquel Batista - who he's beating tonight, solidly
Orlando Hudson - who hasn't done much this season
Rafeal Betancourt - will this guy be a closer?

If you don't need a 2B, drop Hudson. Some people think he's a sleeper...I'm not one of them.

What kind of stuff does Riley have? I'm guessing a good fastball based on his stikeouts... He's looking more enticing than Nate Robertson

I'm in a 10 team roto league (30 players per team) and I've got Castillo at 2B but need an MI guy and I had Orlando Hudson for that spot but I recently picked up Jack? Wilson in Pitt to play that spot and I've also got Brian Roberts so it sounds like I can afford to lose Orlando Hudson even though I live in Syracuse and saw him play for the Skychiefs a bunch two years back (with Josh Phelps and Reed Johnson) and really like him. Matt Riley just seems like he's too good to pass up on right now. I mean, that Blue Jays lineup is stacked and he's shut them down.
