It hit near the top of the wall and fell back into the field of play - not a HR.

Yes it did but for it to be a homerun itwould have a marking (usually yellow) on top of the padding. It the same marking that you see around the tops of the fences.

Manny hit a flyball to right , Sheffield was getting close to the wall and it hit in fair ground when it hit near the top of the padding. The umps called it a homer.
