What's the deal with Joe Nathan?

Nathan got his 1st save of the year the other night. Has he just not had closing opportunities this year, or blown a lot of saves?

I guess I haven't followed him that closely, but he's available in one of my leagues. I'm just looking for the scoop on him.

I don't believe he has blown any saves. I think the other day was his first save opportunity. They did send him out a few times in non-save situations and he was a little shaky at times but his job seems safe for now. If he starts blowing saves, I think it's time to worry.

He just hasn't gotten the opportunities. He was blown out of the water a few nights ago in a non-save opportunity. He hasn't looked bad overall so far this year.

Guardado got more than 40 saves for the last two years with the Twins and the 2004 team isn't that much weaker. Nathan will get plenty of opps, he's just got to convert 'em.

Hunter = out, Pierzylnskyi = gone, Mienkeiwitz (badly spelled!) =out.

Hunter--appears to be temporary injury.

Mientkewicz (sp?)--sprained ankle. Not even being DL'd.

Seeing as how every team has injuries throughout a year, the only major loss is Pierzynski--who isn't THAT great of a player.

i.e. the 2004 team isn't that much weaker. In fact, it could be stronger if Lecroy comes back and still produces. And Mauer coulds still put together a decent year too when he returns.
