Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers have placed first baseman Mark Teixeira on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left oblique muscle.
The move is retroactive to April 13. It is his first trip to the DL.
Teixeira is batting .280 with two home runs and seven RBI in seven games this season.
The Rangers recalled first baseman Adrian Gonzalez from Triple-A Oklahoma to fill the roster spot.
Gonzalez, the first pick in the 2000 draft, was acquired from Florida in a trade for Ugueth Urbina last July and will make his major league debut in his first appearance with the Rangers.
