Dye's Trade Value

Postby spamnon » Thu Apr 15, 2004 10:41 pm

This guy is on fire right now, and who knows how he will do for the rest of the season, but I see his value the highest at this point.

I am desperately in need of some starting pitcher, especially after seeing Prior throw only 10 pitches off the mound and feeling a twinge.

But anyway, what kind of pitcher can I expect to get from him right now while he is hot?

Wade Miller, Jake Peavy, Kevin Millwood?

Could I stretch for Zito and his rocky start?

Anyone else?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In both of my leagues, he was on waivers until less than a week ago (unfortunately, I wish he had lasted a little longer there, since he could now nicely fit in the spot on my team vacated by Preston Wilson).

So, unless your league is different, I wouldn't expect much for a player that I doubt was even taken in the draft and hasn't even played 2 full weeks of games yet. Give it until at least the beginning of May, to prove that he is for real.

In a league with no dumb owners don't expect much from him. In my public league BOTH Dye and Cabrera are still on the FA. No one is jumping the gun after 2 weeks on them. If you can even get someone like Wakefield I'd do it.

Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

He's getting snatched up in leagues everywhere. I grabbed him late in my deep league draft. I dont think you're going to get much for him until he keeps it up for awhile. But definitely give it a try if your all set at OF. Maybe even package a lower level pitcher with Dye for a good SP.

Cabrera a free agent? I wish I was in your league.

As far as Dye goes, why not just keep him? If he lasts till the end of the month and is still hitting, then he could be for real this year. We know he has the talent.

Out of Miller, Millwood, Contreras, Peavy I would think Peavy would be about the only one you had a possible shot of getting for him. That owner would have to be loaded with pitching and need bats badly though. If you offered him 1-1 for Millwood, Miller, or Contreras it will be shot down quickly and you might peave another owner.

In one of my leagues Dye was just traded for Pineiro.
