Castillo and Furcal are your major question marks healthwise, which is too bad considering they are a good chunk of your SB's.

From what I've read on Kearns his procedure isn't supposed to sideline him long (can you smell my optimism?).

I don't know anyone else's take on Cedeno, but it seems to me he might not be of much use either. Howe was notorious for not letting his players run in Oakland, so I don't see many SB's in Cedeno's future. But maybe the bright lights have changed Howe's philosophy.

I have just dropped Cedeno in for Ellis Burks and Tony Armas for Charles Johnson. I plan on holding on to Johnson for a little bit while Piazza is suspended. I'm hoping Coors field will help him find his swing again then I'll trade him.

Hey Dude...

Overall, I like the make-up of your team, however, your team has no flexability in the hitting department. Carrying 10 hitters and 11 P's in Yahoo is a risky strategy, with injuries and all. Especially worrisome is the fact that none of your guys goes more than 1 position, with the possible exception of Kearns, maybe(?). I would try and drop Contreras on some unsuspecting Yankees lover, as I thik he is going to end up in the bullpen with Weaver pitching so well. If he does, he has absolutely zero value to you and is preventing you from balancing your roster with possibly someone like a Mark Bellhorn, who you can plug and play at three different positions(1B, 2B, 3B) in case of injury, off day, so on and so forth. Also, you may have too many sleepers on your P staff, with both Villafuerte and Armas Jr...again, use to rebalance your roster accordingly, maybe with a Dave Roberts, who should be around 40+ steals this year, along with .280 avg...Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice. It's too bad that Dave Roberts was picked ... I'm trying to package one of my infamous 2 for 1 deals where I'll ship a closer and a starting pitcher for an improved starter. If I can pull it off I'll still have decent saves, improved starting pitching, and more roster flexibility. Once Piazza's suspension is through I'll drop Johnson for a true utility player.

What are your thoughts on my relievers? Do I have enough potential saves to trade one or two away?

Thanks for the input.

Your RP's are either a big hit, or a big miss. Rivera with the injury of last year...will he return to dominance? OOgie...how many save opps wil he get in Texas? Looper...very low confidence if he blows a couple of saves early, becuase of young studs down on the farm. I usually devalue rp's because in a Yahoo league, the combined totals of all your RP's might equal 17% whip, 15% wins, 15% K's, and 100% Saves...if you see where I am going...one category impact...kinda like picking a russell branyan with his .220 avg, 65 runs, and 35 hr's...good for only one category. I really prefer, depending on your draft order, to maintain my waiver priority when a sleeper like last year's Gagne appears out of nowhere. Not to say that will happen again, but when it's only one category you should be concerned with, just ending up in the middle of the pack will allow you to keep your SP studs and build 4 out of 5 P categories...WHIP, K, Wins, ERA very highly.
