I thought this was a completely legit question from the beginning, and over the last few days I have been trying to get people to talk about PHI lineup situation and what Bowa is trying to do to jumpstart this team. I think its a very important fantasy issue with big name guys underperforming (Thome, Abreu, Burrell).
That said, I didnt get too many Philly fans or people familiar with whats going on to answer my questions, so I went looking for answers myself. The article I found and posted is very helpful IMO. I was just messin around because in 3 days of trying no one gave me anything to help with my questions so I took it upon myself to find out (novel idea, I know).
I guess I was a bit aggravated that apparantly no one thinks Bowa's lineup selection is an important fantasy issue.

I felt the same way last year. I had both Thome and Abreu and information was hard to find. Evidentally the Phillies guard their information a little closer than most teams.

Last year the Phillies were fifth in the NL in runs scored 791 and 9th in the NL in team avg .261 and 9th in the NL in hr's with 166. So far this year they are only averaging 2.75 runs a game. Last year the Dodgers who had one of the worst offense's ever scored 3.5 runs a game. The Phillies aren't as bad as last year's Dodger team, but they are just an average offensive team that is slumping right now. Alot of managers play with the lineup especially when a team is struggling. I'm sure Abreu will hit 3rd and Thome 4th most of the season.

They're better than average offensively.
Most everyone would agree that Burrell will improve (impossible to do otherwise) from last year and he's a large reason that the Phillies' statistics don't look good on paper. When you average in a .209 average of 522 AB, it'll tend to bring things down.
Bowa has said repeatedly that he'd like Burrell in the middle of Abreau and Thome to break up the two left-handed hitters. Tonight, he moved Burrell down to 5th, but I don't see that as the norm. Abreu has lost a step and batting him 3rd doesn't have the advantage it used to stealing bases. I think Bowa ideally wants Thome, Burrell, Abreu. As you said, Bowa is just playing with the lineup right now.
Bowa wanting to bat Thome 3rd, Burrell 4th and Abreu 5th, just because he wants to have a left hander, right hander then another lefty batting sounds really stupid. You make your lineup based on what you have, whether they bat right or left shouldn't mean that much. Abreu get on base 40% of the time, why would you not want him hitting 3rd ahead of Thome, it just doesn't make any sense to me.
