Need Help with Keeper Selections

Postby tnbrave » Sat Mar 03, 2018 11:42 pm

Hello all! It's almost draft time! I need help with my keeper selections this year. 10-team H2H Weekly Points League. -1 for hitter K's. Keep a minimum of 5, but can keep 6, 7, or up to 8.

I'm definitely keeping Trout, C. Seager, Bellinger, Cruz, and Scherzer.

Having trouble deciding about my other keepers. Would you keep any of the following:
Keuchel
G. Cole
Chapman
Contreras
Cano

Or would you take a chance? Keuchel's ADP and rankings are pretty much in the top 60; however, the others, not necessarily so. Would you just keep 5? Or would you keep more? If so, who?

Thanks! WHIR!

I think I would keep one of the Astros pitchers (Cole or Keuchel) and maybe Contreras, being only a 10 teamer tho, maybe its a waste to keep the catcher, but it doesn't hurt as he will join Posey and Sanchez as really the only relevant guys @ the position.

Thanks! Keuchel or Cole?

Yeah, I've thought about keeping Contreras; however, if I was drafting I would not take a C in the first 7-8 rounds typically. Would you consider keeping Chapman? He is a tier below Jansen and Kimbrel. (Then again, I typically don't draft RPs in the first 7-8 rounds typically.)

Cole could explode this year in a good way, BUT the safe play is probably to go with Keuchel who is also in a contract year, he's a FA at the end of the year, so he has something to pitch for, $$$$ plus is a Bor-ASS client. :-D

Guess it doesn't hurt having Chapman either, top 5 closer on a top 5 team in the Yankees, sure take him, let Contreras go.

I’d seriously consider Keuchel, Cano and Chapman.

Keuchel has great value as a strong SP. Never enough of those.
Cano’s likely to see a regression but I love value at MI positions.
Chap’s in a great spot and as the 8th keeper, has good value.

Thanks for the help with mine!

Assuming you are not giving anything back to keep 8, then:
Chapman
Keuchel
Contreras

You are not likely to see much better picking round 6 unless someone cuts someone lose they shouldn't imo.

Thanks all! No, not giving anything back to keep 8. So it sounds like in addition to Trout, C. Seager, Scherzer, Bellinger, and Cruz, the general consensus is to keep Keuchel and Chapman as well. That gives me 7. Who should #8 be?

G. Cole (#3 SP)
Contreras

Or would you not keep either of them? It’s basically an 8th round draft pick. Based on what I can tell, only a few teams will keep 8 players and most will be drafting SPs (start 4). The only C’s (start 1) that will be kept are Posey and Sanchez. Could always keep Cole and then plan to draft Realmuto or Ramos with a letter pick. Or keep Contreras and try get a better #3 SP. what do you think?

Thanks! WHIR

In a 10 team league, i think you can draft SP
C, not so much.
I'm not crazy on Dallas as most. His last 2 years, he's had a 3.80 FIP.

Contreras & Keuchel's ADP suggest they would normally be kept in such settings, I don't think they are much different than you'd end up with picks if you left them out
