He does have a great curveball. However, like Zito, he is not getting the curve in for strikes. Don't know if the umps are not used to it or he just can not locate it. I would hold onto him or get ready to pounce once he starts geting that curve working...
i didnt star affeldt or vogelsong cause they are were not good matchups but i have to say i expected a little better, like not getting murdered and stuff. He´s deep on my bench but i still think that great suff of his can eat up the twins, tigers and Indians at the very least

I'm glad I forgot to put him in my lineup today just like I did with a few other guys I normally would have started, but woke up too late to put in my lineup
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."
unfortunately I started him today, and it's only because I am desperate for some wins.
but anyway, I am hesitant to drop him because it's only the first week, and I see potential in this guy.
He has nasty stuff and NO blisters right now.
I don't want to make the same mistake I made a couple years back when I dropped Washburn after a few bad starts with his ERA hovering in the 10s, only to see him win 18 games that year.
Plus I got Kaz Ishii or John Patterson to pick up. Slim pickings!

yeah, unless you have great options on your WW, I'd hold on to affeldt for another start or two. plus, if he struggles greatly and the royals have to bring up another pitcher (presumably Greinke), u can always pick him up. (stuff even nastier than affeldt's IMHO)
