Relative newbie that would appreciate some feedback

Postby jvdesigns » Sat Mar 28, 2015 11:42 am

Hello Everybody--thank you in advance. My third go at ever playing fantasy baseball--so I'm a relative newbie. Only my second go ever in a 5x5 roto format. My league has 12 teams. Strange roster requirements--

The draft is 28 rounds, you are required to start 2 catchers, 1 1b, 1 2b, 1 ss, 1 3b, 5 of, 1 ci, 1 mi, 1 ut, 9 p and 5 reserves.

I'm basically planning on punting saves--and will most likely be weak in sb's. While I was drafting--I found that I got sucked away from my strategy. I ended up falling victim to drafting guys that I thought were to good a value to pass up. I had the 5th pick. Went Miggy--then edwin (didn't want him--but shocked that he was still there), then Rendon. It's cool that I got those guys--but now I'm worried that my team is severely flawed--so I'd like some opinions on if I should be patient---or if this roster is so flawed that I should start making some moves immediately

Thank you.

Your roster requirements are actually pretty standard now for deep leagues. Yes you're going to be slow and zero points in saves is gonna hurt but I'd play out the 1st month as is and try and adjust from there when you'll have a better idea where you have too much and the other teams have too little making moves a little clearer.

Just wanted to thank you for your reply and your input. I was thinking the same thing. If guys like Butler/Teixera pan out at all--I think I wold have very "trade-able" components that I could use to strengthen my team. I also might end up with a little bit of sneaky speed with Joc and Yelich. I should definitely have a clearer picture of how things look in a month--I think you are super on point there. Thank you.
