Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Cubs have placed second baseman Mark Grudzielanek on the 15-day disabled list with a partially torn right Achilles' tendon.
The move is retroactive to Saturday, April 10. He had been bothered by inflammation in the heel and missed the past three games, but is expected to be sidelined for only about two weeks.
Grudzielanek was leading the team in batting with a .467 average, notching seven hits in 15 at-bats through four games.
The Cubs activated infielder Jose Macias off the disabled list. He was placed on the DL in late March after undergoing surgery to repair his left medial meniscus.
