How good is Willis ?

Was he a fluke or is he really one of the best young pitchers?

I think Willis is overrated. He had a good start last week but I think he will be a high ERA and WHIP pitcher if your league tracks those stats

I am thinking about this too. I have a chance to trade for Willis,so I am trying to figure him out.

Anyone else with an opinion ?

I did not start this thread but I am interested in opinions.

If he has another good start today, I'm going to try and shop him around and see what I can get. Sell high.
I'm back. Sorta.

I think he's for real, and I hope he becomes the next dominant pitcher, b/c he's the kind of players we need to be superstars. He doesn't shy away from the camera, and he's a good role model for the kids. I just hope that windup doesn't hurt his back or arm.

I think hes for real, but he may need a year or two to become dominant. The kid has good stuff, but dont expect too much from him this year. Ill say 15 wins isnt out of the question with 3.5 ERA.

YOu should use the quote button--it makes things so much easier! ;-D

Anyway, no, I think a lot of him. This is a big misconception. I won't trade him for nothing, but if I can get a manager to go after him based on last year's first half, and his (if he does well today) excellent first two games, then I'll trade him.

I won't trade him for the value I got on draft day.... ;-)

yeah def sell high... that windup of his is gonna give him problems down the road.... he'll still be good, just not nearly as good as he was before the all-star break last year
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.

He faded down the stretch last season, and he will be an injury risk in the future. Remember, at this point last year, he was still in AA so he still has a lot to prove. I'd expect him to do well over the first half of the season, and then tire later on. He threw ~160 innings at age 20, and then ~200 at age 21. That's a lot for a young pitcher.
