I was even more tired of it because I realized that even after he hit 660, they would keep talking about it until he hit 661. Here comes another week of all Bonds, all the time.
I agree with you all to a point...I think they are covering it too much, as in it shouldn't dominate SC and such as much. But I like seeing the at-bats live...I mean hey, this is history we are watching and we're complaining? 30 years from now our kids will be asking us about Barry Bonds, and unless you live in SF, it's hard to really get to see him play. I like the extra coverage of his at-bats....just a little less analysis would be fine by me.

I'd like to be able to tell my kid's that I saw one of the greatest hitters hit the big one that tied him with his godfather. Is a whole 1 minute really going to ruin your life? And people think Bonds is selfish......
Then don't watch it? I'm paying for cable. I think the customer should have a say in the programming, and ESPN would agree. I don't think they want us NOT WATCHING IT during their commercials

I dont think this thread would be here if it were only a minute that we are talking about. To me, it seems like this story dominates 90% of ESPNs coverage. Im not really a selfish guy, but I want my baseball back.
I was referring to the minute that it takes to cut to Bonds at bats. And to tell you the truth, I think the friggin masters is being covered too much. I don't care about Phil Mickelson, and his first masters. I'd rather watch history happen, but that might be just me. And I highly doubt Bonds will be covered very much after his 660 homerun.

Going to huge someday.
yes, it is a huge achivement to be 3rd on the all-time HR list.... im not sure that many peeps out of the Bay Area appreciate it as much... but im not sure what exactly they were tryin to do with the torch... anyways ESPN has to hype up sumthin- thats how they make their living
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.
when bonds passes the babe and possibly aaron next year, you will see much more coverage and hype than this. This will be forgotten when Bonds closes in on the Babe. This is only the beginning of the hurricane of media coverage that is coming up.
My guess is that you get a mini-round of coverage with every ten or so homers from here on out. "Bond's only 40 from Ruth, 85 from Aaron," etc. Get ready for it.
