He's throwing gas! In the high 90's, I think he hit 99 once. However, it's all over the place. I think he's having trouble griping the ball in the cold weather because he keeps asking for new balls.

Showalter needs to get a clue. You do NOT send a closer out for more than one inning each time. You LET your closer pitch in some non-save situations to keep him sharp. Last outing: 1.2 innings. This outing 1.1 innings. Get a clue, Buck Showalter.

All are very good points. Hadn't pitched recently, the cold, and being brought into the game in the 8th.

Cordero did not look sharp and I believe all of those reasons listed are indicators as to why.

Yes, he did hit 99 on the gun. I'll take the ugly save this time though.
