Is Omar Daal for real?

Postby Guest » Wed May 29, 2002 3:31 pm

Hi, I'm in a 4x4 league with 10 teams and my pitching staff is strong, but was wondering if I should pick up Omar Daal.

Here is my starting pitching staff:

Prior, Mark CHC P
Halladay, Roy TOR P
Perez, Odalis LA P
Johnson, Randy ARI P
Glavine, Tom ATL P
Padilla, Vicente PHI P

Is Omar Daal better than any of my starting pitchers?

Better? Possibly. However, Daal will (presumably) only start as long as Brown is out, which could be anywhere between two starts and the rest of the season.

Your rotation is indeed excellent; there isn't much of a reason to take this risk. Keep an eye on both Daal and Brown, however, to see how this situation turns out.

Is Rolando Arrojo better than any of my lineup for Starting Pitchers? Should I pick him up and drop someone?

Arrojo's good, but I have to say I like your current starters even more.

The trouble with having a great rotation is not being able to take advantage of guys like this - you're so close to the ceiling that barring a trade or an injury, you probably won't be making too many moves, even if it means watching other teams improve.

I agree with Arlo. You're pitching is solid. No reason to even worry about it! Work on hitting.

What about Antonio Osuna?

Postby Guest » Thu Jun 20, 2002 11:55 am

Should I pick up Antonio Osuna and drop any of my pitchers? How long is he going to pick up savesj?

Also, do you think it's a good idea to try and trade Glavine for a big bat? What suggestions do you have?

Osuna's a nice gamble now, although nobody knows how long his run will last. I don't know whether I'd drop one of your starters for him, bu tif you have a droppable reliever or hitter, he's a good pickup.

If you need help in hitting, shopping Glavine might be a good idea. Make sure you get a true stud in return, though.

My current relievers are:

Wickman
Escobar
Julio

Any of them I should drop for Osuna?

Osuna may actually be a better pitcher than some of those guys, but until (big if) he's confirmed as the sole closer for the rest of the year, stick with what you have. The best closers are those with the most job security.

Scott E. Stewart

Postby Guest » Fri Jun 21, 2002 10:20 am

Is this a good time to pick up Scott Stewart? I'm not sure if he is the closer for the whole season, but he has a great ERA and 7 saves.

Currently I have:

SP RP
Prior Wickman
Padilla Julio
Halladay Escobar
Big Unit
Glavine
Perez

Should I drop any SP or RP and pick up Stewart? His ERA will help my team. Thanks
