Steroids

Postby Arlo » Wed May 29, 2002 3:55 am

As you may have heard, Ken Caminiti has admitted to using steroids during his mvp year. Word is that over half of all players use some kind of performance enhancing concoction. What do you think the upshot of all this will be? A crackdown involving massive testing? Suspensions? Bans? Or will the league ignore the issue?

What should the league do? Is there any way to stop steroid use, or is testing technology just too many steps behind?

Any thoughts?

testing

Steroid testing works pretty fine so that shouldn't be a problem for the league if it wanted it to stop...

Outlawed performance enhancing substances should be tested for carefully and often. People who are found to be using them should be penalized as severely as guilty athletes are abroad. You took steroids? fine. why don't you take a couple of years off to think about it?

There is a huge difference between trying to keep athletes sober (alcohol, pot, harder drugs) and keeping them from cheating. If you cheat the game, that's it. we DON'T want you.

They should test players every month and ban any players for life if they come up positive. one positive test and they are banned for 2 years. They should also should test players when they are drafted... But do nothing to the past 10 years stats.
