Furcal leaves Braves game

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Atlanta Braves shortstop Rafael Furcal left Friday's home game against the Chicago Cubs after injuring himself during a swing in the sixth inning.

Furcal fouled off a 1-0 pitch leading off the bottom of the frame, and walked past the first base line before leaving the game with an unknown injury.

He was replaced by Jesse Garcia, who struck out swinging two pitches later.

Furcal grounded out in his first two at bats, and left the game with Atlanta holding a 1-0 lead. He is 3-for-14 in four games this season after batting .292 for the Braves last year.

According to Sporting News - Braves general manager John Schuerholz said Furcal likely would be held out until Wednesday.

Furcal seems to have a sore, tight lower back, and the enjury actually came on a relay throw that went over his, head, but was helped along with the swings, he is day-to-day and may be back as early as tomorrow nights game
