Keepers for 2015

Postby tnbrave » Tue Sep 02, 2014 5:32 pm

With the season wrapping up, I'm thinking about my Keepers for 2015. It is a 10-team H2H Weekly Points League, and I can keep any 5 players, no cost. The ones I'm considering are below:

Trout
Bautista
Freeman
Rendon
Donaldson
Bumgarner
Scherzer

How would you all rank these? What would be your top 5? Obviously, Trout is number 1. Thanks! WHIR

Trout
Scherzer
Rendon
Bautista
Freeman
Bumgarner
Donaldson

At first glance, and not knowing the cats in your league. I'd say the odd men out are Bumgarner and Donaldson.

1b Freeman
2b Rondon
3b Donaldson
OF Trout, Bautista

Mad Bum could be your 5th...if you can get a buyer for Joey Bats. Maybe him and Max for one elite keeper say a SS like Tulo...:D

I would try to keep the top at each position you can. So for me, it comes to down to 3 no-brainers, one coin-flip and one that depends on position eligibility

No brainers:
Trout - top OF
Rendon - top 3 2B
Freeman - top 5 1B

Flip a coin:
Bumgarner/Scherzer - Going into 2014, I wouldn't hesitate to say Scherzer but without knowing where he ends up next season, it's tough to really pin down his 2015 value. He's an ace, with tremendous stuff, but if he ends up with the Yankees, for instance, and has to face the Blue Jays & Orioles more often, in a hitters park...I think I may prefer Bumgarner.

Position eligibility:
Bautista at 3B? Keep him. If not, Donaldson is the keeper. Top 5.

That would give you a top 5 at 1B, 2B, 3B, an ace and the best player in the game...

Trout
Rendon
Freeman

Bautista
Donaldson

Scherzer
Bumgarner

I think you have to keep the top 3. After that I would say keep either Bautista or Donaldson depending on who you think others are keeping (i.e. 3B).

Then I would keep one of the elite SP's you have, both are top 5 in my opinion and really can't go wrong with either.

Thanks for thoughts on mine.

Wow, pretty stacked list to choose from.

The key when you're keeping so few is quality over quantity. So my recommendation would be to try and package two or three of them to a down and out team with limited talent if they have one of the top players - - ie Cabrera or Kershaw or McCutchen...and nobody else.

Trout, Freeman and Rendon...followed by Donaldson and then one of the SPs. I'd lean towards Bumgarner just because of the league and park will help his ratios, even though Scherzer is elite K guy.

Can't keep Bautista - - he turns 34 in October and that's just too old when you've got so many other options to choose from.

Help with mine please...

I would normally say take the 5 hitters. I could see letting Donaldson walk in place of Scherzer though depending on where he ends up in 2015.
