Accept this offer for Trout? WHIR

Postby jruffus1 » Mon Aug 11, 2014 11:02 pm

I am in a 12-team Keeper league (3 year keepers) and own Trout, but he cannot be kept any further. I am not going to make the playoffs and the trade deadline is in a few days. I don't get along with 1/4 of the managers in the league so the offers have been scarce.

At this point, the best offer i've received is a 4th round pick and Michael Brantley (who can be kept for 2 more years after this one for a 23rd rounder).

Accept this offer for Trout? Nothing else is coming my way.

Trout for Brantley and 4th round pick next year.

I would think that even as a rental, you could get more for Trout. Ask for a first round pick and Brantley at least. A fourth is pretty marginal. Or offer Trout to the second place team for his first and second round picks and a mediocre OF and see what happens.

only other offer is a 2nd rounder straight up. No one else has picks to give or is interested in giving more.

Well I might just sit on Trout and leave it be then just on general principles unless you think Brantley is some sort of superstar in the making going forward. Not that he is a bad player, but I hardly think he warrants worrying about losing for next year. Then again, I am pretty stubborn when it comes to being ripped off in deals and would rather take a minor hit than let someone rip me off like that, but that is me.

if you're leading the league and can coast to the finals i'd accept it. but if you're fighting for a playoff spot then keep trout.

Other deal I am being offered is Tulo and a 5th + 6th round picks for next year. I have two 1st rounders next year and I'd have to use one to keep Tulo.

If you aren't going to make the playoffs, the right idea is to get something for Trout if you can. But, that something should be a top player at a position you could use the help.

I find it hard to believe that you aren't getting good offers from the contending teams in your league. Maybe float out a message - "I've received a couple of offers for Trout and am close to a decision. I'll accept last minute, BEST, offers for 24 hours..."

Maybe light a fire under their asses. If it doesn't work, I'd be okay taking the Tulo deal
